Auction Of Bill Walton’s Personal Items Features Treasure Trove Of Grateful Dead Collectibles

Bill Walton, the avid Grateful Dead fan and NBA Hall of Famer, left behind an impressive collection of memorabilia when he died in May of 2024 at the age of 71. Many of those unique items are now up for auction as part of “The Personal Collection of Bill Walton,” which launched on Wednesday (May 14) and runs through June 11. The items include jerseys from his basketball career and his 1986 Boston Celtics championship ring, as well as a multitude of items related to the Grateful Dead. Walton famously attended more than 800 Dead shows during his colorful life. This includes limited-edition prints, tour books, artwork, a drum cymbal autographed by the band, and various posters and setlists from Dead-related shows. A highlight of the auction is a drum head signed by members of the Dead and their managers. There are non-Dead music items available, including a signed copy of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours and a Keith Richards guitar pick. (Rolling Stone)
