Pulp Return With First Album in 24 Years, ‘More,’ Share Lead Single, “Spike Island”

Britpop legends Pulp just announced their first album in 24 years, More, which is set to be released on June 6 via Rough Trade. The band also shared lead single, “Spike Island,” along with a music video directed by frontman Jarvis Cocker. The 11-track album was inspired during the group’s 2024 reunion tour, and was recorded in just three weeks. “This is the shortest amount of time a Pulp album has ever taken to record,” Cocker shared in a statement. “It was obviously ready to happen.” The record was produced by James Ford, and is dedicated to the band’s late bassist Steve Mackey, who died in March 2023. “We hope you enjoy the music,” Cocker says. “It was written & performed by four human beings from the North of England, aided & abetted by five other human beings from various locations in the British Isles. No A.I. was involved during the process.” Pulp has also announced a pair of co-headlining gigs with LCD Soundsystem at the Hollywood Bowl on September 25 and 26. (Rolling Stone)
