Ringo Starr’s Son Zak Starkey Cancels London Show After Suffering Blood Clot In Leg

Zak Starkey, the 59-year-old son of the Beatles’ Ringo Starr, had to cancel his band’s show in London on Tuesday night (January 21) after the drummer suffered a blood clot in his leg. Starkey has been advised to rest and take blood thinners for two weeks due to the ailment. In addition to playing with The Who, Starkey is currently the drummer in Mantra of the Cosmos, which features Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder and percussionist Mark “Bez” Berry, along with former Oasis guitarist Andy Bell. The group had just played two celebrated shows at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool, the famous venue where the Beatles got their start and where Starr met his future wife and Starkey’s mother, Maureen Tigrett, for the first time. Ryder was recently asked if Starkey – who played with Oasis in the past – would be taking part in their upcoming reunion tour, responding, “You gotta ask him that.
