Last night at the Grammys, southern rocker Chris Stapleton paid tribute to Tom Petty with accompaniment from Emmylou Harris.

Stapleton, who has stated that Petty’s Wildflowers album is his favorite album ever, performed the title track which also served as the intro to the In Memoriam segment.

On October 7, 2017, Stapleton played a sold out show at the Xcel. He discussed (as he does in the second video) touring with Tom Petty and Petty’s desire to work with Stapleton in the future. That night Stapleton and both of his openers (Brent Cobb and Margo Price) each covered a Tom Petty song. You can view a clip below of Stapleton’s take on “Learning to Fly”.
