VELUS JONES JR. RETURNING FOR 2021 FOOTBALL SEASON

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee graduate transfer wide receiver and return specialist Velus Jones Jr., announced he will return for the 2021 Volunteer football season.

In his first season with the program, Jones hauled in 22 passes for 290 yards and three touchdowns. He collected two touchdowns against Florida on Dec. 5.

Jones also proved to be one of the most dynamic return specialists in the SEC. He averaged 22.11 yards per kickoff return, which ranked second in the conference. His 398 total return yards was tops in the SEC and top 25 nationally.

Jones, a native of Saraland, Alabama, began his career at Southern Cal and spent four season with the Trojans. He has logged 2,345 kickoff return yards for his career, which ranks second among active FBS players.

Jones’ announcement comes on the heels of teammate offensive lineman Cade Mays announcing his intentions to return for his 2021 season with the Vols.
