The National’s Matt Berninger Announces New Solo Album, Shares Lead Single ‘Bonnet of Pins’

The National frontman Matt Berninger took to Instagram on Tuesday (March 11) to announce the upcoming release of his second solo album, Get Sunk, which is out on May 30 via Book/Concord Records. Berninger also shared the lead single from the album, “Bonnet of Pins,” to promote the record’s release as well as his upcoming solo world tour. Get Sunk was produced by engineer Sean O’Brien, who also co-wrote many of the songs. Berninger says that the new album was inspired by “a long period of writer’s block and self-disgust.” He will embark on a North American tour starting on May 19 in Seattle and concluding on May 30 in New York City, followed by a European and U.K. run in August and September. Tickets for the North American tour go on sale March 14, with a presale for the National’s Cherry Tree fan club beginning on March 12. (Rolling Stone)
