Axl Rose Seeks Dismissal Of Sexual Assault Lawsuit

Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose and his legal team filed court documents in late February, seeking dismissal of the sexual assault lawsuit filed against him by former Penthouse model Sheila Kennedy in November 2023.

Kennedy’s suit claims that she was sexually assaulted by Rose in a New York City hotel in 1989. She claimed Rose “targeted” her using his fame and celebrity status to “manipulate, control and violently sexually assault” her.

According to documents obtained by People, Rose’s legal team references Kennedy’s 2016 memoir “No One’s Pet,” where she describes the alleged incident as “consensual sex.” The legal team also points out a previous interview by the model in which she said she “did not consider it rape. It was consensual.”

Kennedy’s suit lists the charges as “assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and gender-motivated violence,” and asks the court to help her determine and recover unspecified damages as a result of the incident.

Rose’s lawyers allege that due to New York’s Adult Survivor’s Act, Kennedy allegedly saw she could make a pretty penny by filing a lawsuit against Rose. They claim this is nothing more than a money grab at the expense of Rose’s personal and professional reputation.

“Kennedy cannot and will not succeed in this unscrupulous attempt at a financial windfall. This lawsuit will lay bare the falsity of these vexatious and meritless allegations,” the documents filed by Rose read.
