Garbage Singer Shirley Manson Fights Back Following Tabloid’s Ageist Commentary

On Saturday (April 12), Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson fired back on Instagram in response to a Daily Mail hit piece that was critical of the band’s current appearance and made ageist commentary about their looks. “What is THIS supposed to mean?!?” Manson wrote of the tabloid’s headline calling the band “unrecognizable” in their new promo photos. “Look – I’m nearly sixty years old. Of course I’m not going to look anything like my late twenties self?!?,” Manson continued. “I will always – no matter what I look like – no matter what they say about me – I will always – and forever – rock HARDER than most.” Garbage will release their eighth studio album, Let All That We Imagine Be the Light, on May 30, and will support the record with their 31-date Happy Endings Tour later this year, which includes stops in New York, San Francisco, Washington and more. It marks the band’s first North American headlining run in nearly a decade. (Billboard)
