Hatebreed Guitarist Wayne Lozinak Diagnosed With Brain Tumor While On Tour In Europe

Hatebreed guitarist Wayne Lozinak has been diagnosed with a non-cancerous brain tumor, which caused the musician to leave the band’s current UK/European tour in order to undergo surgery in the US. The tumor, identified as a benign meningioma, was discovered after Lozinak experienced symptoms resembling a possible stroke at the Download Festival in the U.K., leading him to seek immediate medical attention and testing when the band arrived in Lille, France. Hatebreed made the announcement on Instagram on Tuesday (June 17): “We appreciate all the love and support from fans, friends, and the music community during this time. Further updates will be shared as appropriate. Thank you for respecting Wayne’s privacy as he begins this journey toward full health.” The band confirmed that touring bassist Matt Bachand will switch to guitar for the remainder of the tour, with Carl Schwartz (First Blood, Terror) filling in on bass. Lozinak, who co-founded Hatebreed in 1994, remains determined to return to the band post-recovery. (Consequence of Sound
