Rush’s Alex Lifeson Reveals He Just Had A Jam Session With Metallica’s Kirk Hammett And Rob Trujillo

In an  interview with prog-rock site Sea of Tranquility, Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson shared that he recently had a spontaneous jam session with Metallica’s Kirk Hammett and Rob Trujillo. “They came over after dinner and we played for a few hours, and it was great,” Lifeson said. “When you play with great musicians like those guys are, the places you go, it’s just unbelievable. I loved every second that we did that. The three of us just were oozing with enthusiasm. And that’s pretty cool.” The impromptu jam likely occurred while Metallica was in Toronto in late April for their pair of shows at Rogers Centre. During their second night on April 26th, Hammett and Trujillo paid tribute to Rush by performing a rendition of their 1978 classic, “La Villa Strangiato,” during the duo’s instrumental cover break, a recurring segment during Metallica’s current live sets. Metallica continues their M72 World Tour with a pair of upcoming shows in Columbus, Ohio this weekend. (Consequence of Sound)
