Zak Starkey Says He Turned Down Oasis Reunion Tour Gig Only To Be Fired By The Who

In a new interview with The Telegraph, former Who drummer Zak Starkey claims that he turned down an offer to join Oasis‘ upcoming reunion tour under the assumption that he would continue with The Who, only to eventually be fired from the band. He expressed surprise at the turn of events, revealing that he would have gladly joined Oasis had he known he wouldn’t continue with The Who. “Of course, of course,” Starkey answered when asked if he would’ve partnered with Noel and Liam Gallagher on their reunion tour, following an earlier stint as Oasis’ touring drummer from 2004 through 2009. The Who’s 2025 U.S. farewell tour will proceed with Scott Devours as the touring drummer, while Oasis’ highly-anticipated shows get underway on July 4 in Cardiff with Joey Waronker on drums. “I don’t blame anyone,” Starkey said of his split with the Who, while adding that the band is “unpredictable, aggressive, and fu**ing insane,” but that’s why he loves them.
